Step 1

First we need to put the chain into the mechanism. To do this you need to take the mechanism out of the track. This is the fitting that holds the mechanism onto the track this needs to be unscrewed so that the mechanism will pull off easily.

Step 2

There are two grooves either side that you need to push in so that it releases the cap. Please use a flat headed screw driver to do this.

An Easy and Quick Way to Measure Your Windows for Roman Blinds

An Easy and Quick Way to Measure Your Windows for Roman Blinds

The Benefits of fitting a Roman Blind outside the Recess

  • Roman blinds that are fitted outside the recess look far better as they dress the window, they also can be adjusted so you can show off more of the fabric.
  • Outside the recess blinds are easier to measure as all you need to do is add 10cm onto the width and between 20cm to 30cm onto the drop of your recess size.
  • Roman blinds outside the recess do not take any of the light as when they are pulled up they are mostly out of the window so you can let in natural day light.
  • The fabric on roman blinds outside the recess will fade less as the blind is stacked above the light.
  • Roman blinds have a tendency to creep upwards with usage. With the blind being held in folds the fabric remembers the fold and when they drop down there is still a slight fold in the blind, this causes the blind to slight reduce in length if the blind is fitted outside the recess this is not noticeable.
  • They are easier to fit because no tricky lintels to worry about.

Roman Blinds inside the Recess

  1. Measure the width in three different places inside the window recess from wall to wall. Measure at the top, middle and bottom. The most crucial measurement to write down is the smallest one.
  2. Measure the drop (height of the window) in three different places inside the recess from the top of the recess to the window sill. Again the most vital measurement to write down is the smallest one.

How to Effectively Pattern Match Fabrics

How to Effectively Pattern Match Fabrics

Pattern fabrics have a vertical repeat, when making curtains we use this repeat. To work out the pattern repeat simply measure from the top of the design in one spot down to the same spot on the design below.

Othello Sage Roman Blind

Othello Sage Roman Blind

All cut lengths have to start at the same point in the pattern so they match at the seams when joined; this means that a cut length has to be a multiple of the pattern repeat. Once you have determined your pattern repeat you need to work out the cut length of your widths please see example below.

Finished length = 228cm divide by pattern repeat 69cm = 3.3cm

Round up 3.3cm up to 4cm

4 is the number of repeats you will need

4 x 69cm = 276cm = cut length
