The Benefits of fitting a Roman Blind outside the Recess

  • Roman blinds that are fitted outside the recess look far better as they dress the window, they also can be adjusted so you can show off more of the fabric.
  • Outside the recess blinds are easier to measure as all you need to do is add 10cm onto the width and between 20cm to 30cm onto the drop of your recess size.
  • Roman blinds outside the recess do not take any of the light as when they are pulled up they are mostly out of the window so you can let in natural day light.
  • The fabric on roman blinds outside the recess will fade less as the blind is stacked above the light.
  • Roman blinds have a tendency to creep upwards with usage. With the blind being held in folds the fabric remembers the fold and when they drop down there is still a slight fold in the blind, this causes the blind to slight reduce in length if the blind is fitted outside the recess this is not noticeable.
  • They are easier to fit because no tricky lintels to worry about.

Roman Blinds inside the Recess

  1. Measure the width in three different places inside the window recess from wall to wall. Measure at the top, middle and bottom. The most crucial measurement to write down is the smallest one.
  2. Measure the drop (height of the window) in three different places inside the recess from the top of the recess to the window sill. Again the most vital measurement to write down is the smallest one.
