Measuring Outside the Recess

Measuring for Roman Blinds outside the Recess

1) Measure the width of your window then add at least 12cm to allow for overlap.

2) Measure the drop (height) of your window and add at least 12cm to allow for overlap.

3) On Roller Blinds the exact width entered will be from bracket to bracket in between the brackets you would have your controls, this means your fabric will be 2cm to 3cm less. Ex:- A Roller Blind width of 60cm exact size from bracket to bracket would mean the fabric would be around 57cm to 58cm in width. Please take this into acount when measuring for your blind to go onto a door with a window, bay window or window with a small frame.

4) Remember to enter your sizes as Exact size when ordering for outside recess this will mean the blind will be made to your precise measurements.

On window blinds in a bay there will be a small gap where the window treatments meet. Follow these easy steps to measure your blinds.

Bay Window

How to Measure for Window Blinds into a Bay

  1. Cut two pieces of cardboard at the thickness of the slat and at around 30cm long.
  2. Place the pieces of cardboard so the front edges meet like they are the actual blind slats at each intersection point (See diagram above)
  3. Make a smallmarkon the front edge where they intersect. Repeat the step for both blinds.
  4. Next you need to measure each side of the window blinds. The left blind measurement will be from the intersection point wemarked to the window frame. Make sure your measurement is an equal distance away from the window as the intersection point. Minus 1cm from both of these blinds for clearance.
  5. Finally measure the centre bay blind by measuring the distance from each intersection point.
